2017/18 Programme of the Year Award Goes to Burnley

Burnley’s matchday programme ‘Turf’ is today awarded the Premier Progs Programme of the Year Award for the 2017/18 season. Second place is taken by Bournemouth and third place by Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Burnley programme is a superb issue, being awarded 19 points out of 20 for consistent excellence across the four areas of marking – Design and Layout, Original Content, Opposition Coverage, and Club Information. The team behind ‘Turf’ are to be congratulated on the quality of their programme, with some excellent design work complementing a host of well-written features.

As one of only five Premier League clubs still charging just £3 for their programme, ‘Turf’ represents superb value for money. At a time when some clubs are questioning the requirement to produce a matchday programme at all, the team at Burnley have provided a prime example of how to put together a quality issue for a reasonable price.

Credit is also due to the teams behind the programmes issued by Bournemouth and Brighton, both of which are very impressive. Bournemouth have been delivering excellent programmes for several years now, and this season deserve special credit for providing extensive coverage of the club’s matchday opponents. The Brighton issue impresses for the sheer weight of original content included in their programme.

Overall, the standard of this season’s matchday publications is very high, with honourable mentions also due to the programmes issued by Crystal Palace, Leicester City, and Manchester United, all of which scored the same number of points as the Bournemouth and Brighton issues.
